Matthew 8:23-27
23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

Who can comprehend God Almighty? Who knows what it was like as the foundations of the World were laid? Jesus knows. He was there at the beginning. Jesus set the limits of the waves. Here in the text the Disciples find themselves with out of control waves. These waves are not being very nice.
They call for help from Jesus. They wake him up from down below. They call him to the Deck to face the unruly enemy. Jesus simply rebukes the winds and the waves. But only after rebuking the Disciples for their little faith.
Jesus easily reminds us of the Faith of Job. Job might not have been on a ship nor out to sea. But Job took the Good with Bad. Job was much closer to perishing than the disciples (especially if they knew how to swim). But Job fears God.
When the Seas are rough call upon the name of the LORD.
When the Seas are calm call upon the name of the LORD.
When you are afraid fear the LORD alone
When you are at peace fear the LORD alone
