Seventh Sunday of Israel (GA)

Matthew 27:24-26
24 So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am innocent of this mans blood; see to it yourselves. 25 And all the people answered, His blood be on us and on our children! 26 Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.

King David said that he was innocent of this mans blood because of his confession. The council charged the Apostles of intending to bring this Jesus blood upon them. Here Pilate is claiming his innocence of Jesus, while the people are claiming the blood of Christ be placed upon their own heads.

This brings up a lot of great moves that could be made. Whose blood is on your hands, or head? Are you innocent of the death of the Lords Anointed? Where have your sins been placed? Many of us have desired to kill people. Many of us have even felt anger against our political leaders. Some of us have probably even cheered for guilty verdicts.

Jesus blood is on your hands and head. You are not innocent of Jesus death. Jesus took your sins upon himself and took them to the cross. He suffered and died for your forgiveness. He paid the price for your freedom. He put his blood on your forehead and upon your heart. He marked you with his blood as one of his children/brothers. It is this innocent blood that he even offers you to drink and receive remission of all your sins. Jesus Blood is shed for you.
