The Sunday of The Prophet Daniel (Ps) November 24th

Psalm 101:1-8
I will sing of steadfast love and justice;
to you, O Lord, I will make music.
   I will ponder the way that is blameless.
Oh when will you come to me?
       I will walk with integrity of heart
within my house;
   I will not set before my eyes
anything that is worthless.
       I hate the work of those who fall away;
it shall not cling to me.
   A perverse heart shall be far from me;
I will know nothing of evil.
   Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly
I will destroy.
       Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart
I will not endure.
   I will look with favor on the faithful in the land,
that they may dwell with me;
       he who walks in the way that is blameless
shall minister to me.
   No one who practices deceit
shall dwell in my house;
       no one who utters lies
shall continue before my eyes.
   Morning by morning I will destroy
all the wicked in the land,
       cutting off all the evildoers
from the city of the Lord.

The Sixth Petition
And lead us not into temptation.
What is this? Answer:
It is true that God tempts no one, but we ask in this prayer that God would preserve and keep us, so that the devil, the world, and our flesh may not deceive us or mislead us into false belief, despair, and other great shame and vice, and that, although we may be attacked by them, we may finally prevail and gain the victory.
The Seventh Petition
But deliver us from evil.
What is this? Answer:
We ask in this prayer, as in a summary, that our Father in heaven may deliver us from all kinds of evil—affecting body or soul, property or reputation—and at last, when our final hour comes, may grant us a blessed end and take us by grace from this valley of tears to himself in heaven.

Almighty and ever-living God, You have given exceedingly great and precious promises to those who trust in You.  Grant us so firmly to believe in Your Son Jesus that our faith may never be found wanting; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (B85)
