The Second Sunday in Lent (NT)

Philippians 2:12-18
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.

It is the job of every Christian to fill the world around them with the light of truth. This would bring about the difficult task of facing all the darkness in the world. Most Christians like to be political activists, even like to talk about their morality as better than others. But to talk truth seems to be far from our lips.

Stop your grumbling. Stop your complaining! Do what you have been told and repent of your sins. How often do you remind people that you are a sinner? Probably every day. How often do you remind people you are forgiven? Probably most of the times when you think we are better than others. How often do you talk about Christ? Most of the time when you are talking about moral teachings.

What is the most important thing Jesus ever said? What do you think is the most important thing Christ ever did? How much do you focus on each of these? Most of the time we go to John 3:16 and forget the Christ must be lifted up like the serpent in the desert.

Christ died on the cross for the forgiveness of your sin, he even died for your evil co-worker and political rival. He said, "Father forgive them they know not what they do." Since we don't know what we are doing wrong, let us repent of our sins. Repent of not being a light to the world around you, and hear Christ words of forgiveness and new life.
