1 In the Lord I take refuge;
how can you say to my soul,
“Flee like a bird to your mountain,
2 for behold, the wicked bend the bow;
they have fitted their arrow to the string
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart;
3 if the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”
4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord’s throne is in heaven;
his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man.
5 The Lord tests the righteous,
but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
6 Let him rain coals on the wicked;
fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the Lord is righteous;
he loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold his face.
The Lord truly does test the righteous. He tests all his saints. He tests them through times of distress. Who are those who have come out of a great tribulation, those are his saints. They suffer from enemies on all sides, but they prevail.
It is Christ who conquers, but it is us who suffer. God calls his saints from every corner of the world, not to blessedness or happiness, but to suffering. The Lord is in his temple and all is right with the world. The Lord tests the righteous. The Lord refines his saints with fire. But the world will flee. The world turns and flees when it sees the Lord.
Many people are suffering in the world today. There are many people dealing with problems that do not allow them to call themselves blessed. But God is your refuge and strength. He is there to stand by your side. Jesus Christ was born of a Virgin so that he could suffer with you. He suffered crucifixion on your behalf. He continues to be with you as you go through the struggles of this life. But remember you are blessed.
You are blessed. God is your refuge. God has promised to protect you from eternal suffering and hell. God has promised to delivery from the pain of this life. He offers you salvation through Jesus Christ. In Christ he calls you his saints.
