Holy Trinity Sunday (OTA)

Numbers 6:22-27
22 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,
24 The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
27 “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”

There are many passages in the Old Testament that just scream the Holy Trinity. There is no passage that does it greater for me than this one. The Lord is repeated three times. Each time it declares what God is doing for us, whether bless, shine, or exalting over us.

God the Father keeps us in his divine love by the gracious gift of his Son, Jesus Christ, and offers us the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding. But more importantly is verse 27. God has always been putting his name upon his children. Jesus commanded his disciples to put the name Father Son and Holy Spirit upon newborn disciples. The LORD told Moses to tell Aaron and the Priests to put this name upon the people of Israel.

There is a fondness in myself for certain passages of Scripture. I would hope that you would develop a similar fondness for certain passages in Scripture. Your passages do not have to be the same as mine. But defend those passages. Use those passages to tell people of how God continues to work in your life, through the forgiveness of sins.

The Holy Trinity puts his name upon the people of Israel and blesses them. The Holy Trinity strengthens them in the true faith. The Holy Trinity works in them the power to defend his holy name. God warns us to be ware of false teachers and to ever keep his name before us, so that you may believe that God has forgiven you all your sins.
