Sunday of Creation (NT)

1 John 1:1-10
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.
5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
The Holy Bible : English standard version. 2001 (1 Jn 1:1-10). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

"I want to walk as a child of the light.
I want to follow Jesus.
God set the stars to give light to the world.
The star of my life is Jesus.
In Him there is no darkness at all.
The night and the day are both alike.
The Lamb is the light of the city of God.
Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus."

Many of us are more than happy to sing this song. We give thanks to Jesus being the Light that Shines in the darkness but forget that we are darkness. John talks about Jesus as the Light, but concludes the same paragraph with "If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." You are darkness.

God created everything Perfect in the Garden. He molded Adam out of his own likeness. He made them in the image of God. But we who are born of Adam are born sinful and unclean. Therefore, we should desire to walk in the Light of Christ. He is the one who died for the forgiveness of all our sins. Jesus becomes the little light in us to cast out all our darkness.

The Holy Spirit passes on through Moses the eyewitness of Creation. John and the other Apostles pass on the witness of Jesus' death and Resurrection. But the Church and Christians still pass on John's words, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." When we confess our sins, God will shine is light upon us.

"I'm looking for the coming of Christ.
I want to be with Jesus.
When we have run with patience the race,
We shall know the joy of Jesus.
In Him there is no darkness at all.
The night and the day are both alike.
The Lamb is the light of the city of God.
Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus."
