The Sixth Sunday of Easter (Ps) May 13th

Psalm 15:1-5
      1       O LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent?
      Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
            2       He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
      and speaks truth in his heart;
            3       who does not slander with his tongue
      and does no evil to his neighbor,
      nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
            4       in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
      but who honors those who fear the LORD;
                  who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
            5       who does not put out his money at interest
      and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
                  He who does these things shall never be moved.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. 2001 (Ps 15:1–5). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

Who will dwell with the LORD our God on his Holy Mountain?  Who is able to walk blamelessly before the LORD?  Who is able to follow the perfect example of Jesus Christ?  The Psalmist tells us only the one who will walk blamelessly before the Lord will dwell in the tent of the LORD.

Everyone must keep slander from their lips.  People must not do evil toward their neighbor.  They are not supposed to set reproach before their friends.  These things set up obstacles between you and the LORD.  The one, who talks about his friends or family or neighbors with disrespect, will not dwell with the LORD.  Even the person who lends or keeps money on interest is recounted along with these people.

Who of us can hope to stand with the LORD?  Who among us can hope to dwell on His Holy Mountain?  Well all of us!  Jesus Christ has died for the forgiveness of our sins.  God has given his Son so that you may dwell with Him in everlasting Life.  He has canceled out our sin.  This will be so God will remember your sins no more.  God removes the slander.  Christ has died for the forgiveness of your sins.  He does this so that we can dwell with him on his Holy Mountain forever.
