Proper 27 (GA)

Matthew 4:12-17
12 Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:
15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people dwelling in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death,
on them a light has dawned.”
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
The Holy Bible : English standard version. 2001 (Mt 4:12-17). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

"Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." The region of Zebulun and Naphtali see the light of the Christ coming. Jesus Christ shines this same light in our lives. He calls us to repentance and to turn from our wicked ways. Jesus Christ comes with a simple message of repentance.

Jesus will teach the disciples about How they are to live and act toward one another. But he does not just teach them simple rituals to follow. But also teaches them a deeper meaning of following these commands in thought word and deed. His instruction reminds us of how we have fallen short. Therefore, Repent of all your sins.

Once you have repented of all your sins. Jesus Christ provides forgiveness of all your sins. Jesus Christ has died for the forgiveness of all your sins. He is the sacrifice for your life. You will not die, because Christ has taken your place. The Wicked person should repent and hold to the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
