Reformation Sunday (Ps) October 23rd

Psalm 87:1-7
1 On the holy mount stands the city he founded;
2 the Lord loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
3 Glorious things of you are spoken,
O city of God. Selah
4 Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon;
behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush—
“This one was born there,” they say.
5 And of Zion it shall be said,
“This one and that one were born in her”;
for the Most High himself will establish her.
6 The Lord records as he registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah
7 Singers and dancers alike say,
“All my springs are in you.”
The Holy Bible : English standard version. 2001 (Ps 87:1-7). Wheaton: Standard Bible Society.

Zion was born of the Father because Christ has established her. The Lord registers new workers every hour for Zion. Zion has singers and dancers but does not say anything about mourners. Zion is the City of God in which all the people of God dwell. They have been brought together by Faith. They dwell in the City of God with God ever in the midst of them. She eats and drinks and enjoys her Labor.

Zion is truly the City of God and the place where he dwells. He establishes Zion on Earth so that his people can continue to call other workers. They are also there to help build each other up in the Word of God. They give each other strength by praying for one another and carrying each other's burdens.

But still in Zion these people need to be renewed. They sing and dance in praise to God. They do this because he has called them to work in his vineyard. He has justified them through the blood of his son. Christ has died for them. Come join the great throng in Zion reborn out of their wickedness.

Savior, since of Zion's city I through grace a member am,
Let the world deride or pity, I will glory in your name.
Fading are the world's vain pleasures, All their boasted pomp and show;
Solid joys and lasting treasures None but Zion's children know.
