Proper 3 (May 24-28)



Controlling Lesson is Acts 2:37-47
Gospel Lesson is Matthew 23:13-39

For Proper 3 the Controlling Lesson is Acts 2:37-47. Following St Peter's Sermon the people are cut to the heart and added to the number of Believers. Jesus warns the people of Jerusalem about their leaders (Matthew 23:13-39) and in Matthew 23:34-39 is his great Lament over Jerusalem. Isaiah gives us a picture of people who are ready to see the dawn and call upon the Lord (Isaiah 58:1-9). Here also comes back to the fulfillment of Joel 2:28-32. Romans 2:17-24 contrasts Jesus account of the Leaders of Israel. The Theme is God Gathers his People.
