The Controlling Lesson for Proper 4 is Acts 3:1-10. Peter and John ascend to the temple and give what they have to give healing the lame man. Peter and John go up for prayer and find one to call on the name of the LORD (Isaiah 56:1-8). The lame man has his weak hands strengthened and jumps up like a deer (Isaiah 35:1-10). Jesus finds the foreigner like Isaiah 56 but also heals the lame in Matthew 15:21-31. More closely related Jesus offers forgiveness of sins and to prove this heals the Paralytic in Matthew 9:1-8. The Peace of Christ should rule in our hearts as St Paul reminds us of the forgiveness of sins and a new self connected to Matthew 15:21-31. The Theme is the Gift They Have.
