Isaiah 55:1-555 “Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3 Incline your ear, and come to me;
hear, that your soul may live;
and I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for David.
4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.
5 Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know,
and a nation that did not know you shall run to you,
because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel,
for he has glorified you.
Here is the verse for you to take a look at, "Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David." God continues to remind his people to listen to him. How many times do you have to tell other people to listen to you? Most of us like to think we listen to other people, but do you really know what they are saying?
I find it interestingly enough that people will often say something but not intend what they actually say. Sit down and think about what you say or have said. Break it down, word by word, and think of the definitions. Was that really what you meant to say? I often read back through some of these things I write and find new meaning all the time.
But God has to repeatedly remind his people to listen to him. Listen to what God has to say concerning your way of life. Listen to what God has to say concerning your salvation. Listen to what God has to say on how you should live. Listen to the Word of the LORD found in the Holy Scriptures.
St Paul tells us faith comes by hearing or listening to the Word of God. St Paul also tells us by Faith you are saved, this not of your own doing but a gift from God. But these are not St Paul's word but God's Word. Incline your ear to what is written, and listen so your soul may be saved. Salvation comes from the Word made flesh. Jesus Christ died for the forgiveness of your sins. He is the one to whom we listen.
