The Fifth Sunday of Easter (NTA)

James 5:13-20
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.
19 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, 20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Is there anyone out there that is suffering? Are there those among you who are in need? Do you know of one single individual who might possibly be sick? Can you think of someone who may not know Jesus Christ died for them? Surely these things are foreign to you!

The prayer lists at church seem to get longer each week. Those prayers do not even include everyone who should be on them, because there are always some individuals who do not want to be on those prayer lists. But it also does not always include those people who may be suffering from something private. Some people do not want others to feel sorry for them.

Who do you want to feel sorry for you? Many people interestingly enough complain about anything and everything, when they visit with other people. This makes for a very interesting idea about who do you want to feel sorry for you. Do you want those people to feel sorry for you? Do you just want to complain so everyone else does not think your life is so good?

Who do you want to feel sorry for you? Jesus Christ looks at his sheep like they are sheep without a shepherd. He looks at us and still has pity upon us. Jesus Christ felt sorry for you so much that he died on a cross for you. God so loved you that he sacrificed his only son so that you might have actual life. He heals you.

Many people in the world do not want Jesus to have pity on them. They do not want God to feel sorry for them. But God feels sorry for you in spite of all that. God still loves you and desires to heal you.
